Matt Hayden

Director of Government Affairs

Matt has gained unique experience in the energy sector in policy and technical roles. He has developed crucial knowledge in the legislative process, policy development, and advancing advocacy strategies throughout his time in DC. 

Prior to joining Mission, Matt was a Manager, Government Relations with Breakthrough Energy, where he led House Republican outreach on various clean energy policies such as, carbon management, hydrogen, transmission, nuclear, tax, trade, and appropriations. 

Matt previously worked for Congressman H. Morgan Griffith (R-VA) and Congressman Bob Latta (R-OH), where he worked closely on issues in the Energy and Commerce Committee and the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis. His continued interest and curiosity about the energy industry led him to participate in two virtual delegations to China regarding U.S.-China relations on energy and climate. 

Matt is a graduate of the University of Dayton, where he earned his B.S. in Chemical Engineering. During this time, Matt worked in various roles at chemical process plants in the energy industry.
